I don’t know about you, but I am all about hosting a good holiday party. Now, as exciting as these get-togethers can be, I will be the first to tell you it can become overwhelming and exhausting. But, it’s so worth it, so I will continue to host! Here are some tips and tricks I follow for a successful holiday party.
Perhaps all the stress that comes with the holiday season is due to the expense. You spend so much money on presents for your friends and family, the décor, and the food! My advice is: save where you can. Now your family members probably have presents in mind that they want, and there is a very slim chance you can change the price of these gifts. Where you CAN save though, is in the kitchen.
Spicy Chicks Gourmet has all the dips and seasonings you need to satisfy your guests’ taste buds. And the best part? Everything is so simple to make! These mixes are inexpensive so won’t harm your wallet, but your guests will think you spent tons of money on the incredible food you have at your party. Because you saved money on food at your gathering, you’ll be able to binge on gifts for your loved ones!
Have you ever been to a potluck gathering where people brought all kinds of food? Almost every time, someone brings a fruit or vegetable platter. If you pay attention, you’ll notice the ones that are pre-made rarely get any love. In fact, sometimes those plates aren’t even touched! This is because most guests love a home-cooked meal. After all, it’s healthier and usually tastes better!
At Spicy Chicks Gourmet, we understand not everyone is a talented chef, which is why we make our recipes so quick and easy to make. This holiday season, ditch the pre-made vegetable platter and make your own! The great thing about using our dips at your party is we have so many options to choose from. Maybe your guests don’t love the ranch dips that come with the typical grocery store platter. We have other options for everyone to love. We recommend our best seller, the Roasted Garlic and Asiago dip mix. It is to die for and has such a unique flavor!
The holiday season is the one time that almost everyone breaks their diet. If you only have one meal at your holiday party, please let it be dessert! A lot of people are intimidated by serving dessert because they don’t consider themselves to be skilled bakers.
With Spicy Chicks Gourmet, serving a delectable dessert has never been so easy. Our New York Cheesecake mix is a treat that almost everyone enjoys. Whip it up and serve it with some fruit, and you will have an easy and delicious crowd favorite!
Holiday parties are overwhelming, but they don’t have to be. Start making wiser choices when it comes to the price of the food you serve and whip up quick and easy plates that everyone will love! Thanks to Spicy Chicks Gourmet, holiday parties have never been so fun for a host! Browse our selection of mixes, or reach out to us for some of our favorite holiday recipes!

Pumpkin Dirt Graveyard Parfait
Who knew such a fun dessert can be so fun?! We love this Pumpkin Dirt Graveyard Parfait. It is so simple, yet so fun and spooky! These little cups are adorable but the best part is how they taste! Your guests will love this little dessert.
To make these you will need:
Pumpkin Dessert Dip
This is a fan favorite, time after time! This pumpkin dessert dip is the perfect resolution to any sweet tooth’s craving. We recommend serving with fruits like apples and strawberries, but it can also be served with cookies or pretzels. To make the dip more festive, we recommend serving in a decorated bowl, or even a small emptied pumpkin but regardless of what its served in, your guests will go crazy for it!
What you will need:
Now, we know not everyone is in on the pumpkin craze which is why these desserts are so awesome! Spicy chicks has a variety of dessert mixes that can replace the pumpkin dessert mix such as chocolate mousse, salted caramel and more (that could be found here.) Although, we do recommend having the pumpkin mix for those that do love pumpkin. AND you would be surprised to see how many of your guests who claim not to be pumpkin fans sneak these treats in. The flavor is really hard not to love.
Don’t waste another minute preparing for your party! Get your Spicy Chick Dessert Mix today and lets get this party started!
]]>I don’t know about you, but I have been counting down the days to cooler temperatures and now that fall has finally arrived, I am all about pumpkin this and pumpkin that. Anything festive, I am here for it!
As I decorate around the house for the fall season, it only makes sense that I have some seasonal flavors to go with it. Whether you are cooking for you and your family, your children’s friends, or others, I’d like to share a few simple but tasty recipes that everyone will love!
Pumpkin Cupcakes
Who doesn’t love a yummy pumpkin dessert? There is something about the pumpkin, cinnamon and other flavors that just make it so good.
For this recipe, I just use a box of pumpkin spice cupcake mix that can be found in just about any grocery store during the fall season.
Instead of regular, store bought frosting, use our Pumpkin Dessert mix. Store bought frosting can be too sweet and very unhealthy, so this mix is a healthier, high quality alternative that’s easy and delicious.
If the pumpkin cupcake mix and dessert mix is too much pumpkin for you, you can always use a regular yellow cake or vanilla cupcake mix and use the pumpkin dessert mix for a little spice.
Pumpkin Dip with Wafers or Fruit
I am all about some dip. Anything creamy is my go to and this pumpkin dip is something my family and I crave during the fall.
I use the pumpkin dessert mix and serve it with gingersnaps, wafers and pretzels! I promise once you try it you will crave it 24/7! It also goes great with a food platter.
Give it a try and use it for your next holiday party. It will without a doubt be a hit!
Pumpkin Cheese Ball
In my previous life, I am almost sure I was a mouse because I love anything with cheese. So, this cheese ball mixed with a little bit of pumpkin is to die for. I could snack on it all day long, but I bring it to every neighborhood dinner party and holiday party, and it is gone within minutes.
I use the same pumpkin dessert mix (it’s really that good, and so versatile!) and substitute the whipped topping for another 8oz package of cream cheese. You can also double the recipe if you have a large party. Whip up this cheese ball and serve it with some crackers and you have a yummy appetizer!
One of the best parts about making all of these recipes instead of buying pre-made food in grocery stores is that it is fresh and both gluten free and vegetarian. I know when I entertain guests, I am always concerned about having snacks and meals everyone can enjoy.
The pumpkin dessert mix is our best selling product in the fall and it’s not hard to see why. We have found that people who have never tried pumpkin before fall in love with it! Even if it’s not your favorite flavor, our mix might surprise you and convert you into a fan! Directions come on the back of the bag but it can also be found here on our website. Order yours today and be able to cook with it all season long.

If I had a quarter for every time someone says, “Oh, I’m not on a diet – I’m on a lifestyle change!” What happens next is a few weeks of gung-ho effort. They have some app loaded on their phone that tracks every step and every bite that crosses their lips. Everyone within earshot has a complete understanding of everything they eat, why they eat it, and what the results are every Monday (because they weighed themselves over the weekend).
Then…suddenly…it all goes silent once they hit the plateau. Some may push a little longer, while others are pushing their way to the front of the crowd to get their first pick of the fresh donuts that just arrived. If you haven’t been this person yourself once or twice, I’m sure you have encountered them.
I’m no doctor, but I jumped off of the diet wagon eons ago and found my peace with food, and my body reacted in a positive way just by being more mindful about everything. No matter what nutritional book you’re reading, these tips will fit right in.
As a Southern woman, I admit that I’m quite stubborn. I also love eating, so nothing puts me in a foul mood than the suggestion of a diet. I live within an abundance of flavors, so don’t you dare tell me that I cannot have something.
Adopt the practice of cooking from scratch as much as possible. It doesn’t take much more effort than the convenience boxed foods. Start with a recipe the first time or two, then let your creative juices run wild. You’ll realize how much more vibrant your meals become because you have complete control over the seasoning. If you’ve already been altering your convenience foods, you’re already more than halfway there.
If you’re already cooking from scratch, you can skip this section because you are already well aware of everything you are eating.
For instance, instead of consulting me and my collection of Spicy Chicks dip flavors that are easy to read, my husband comes home with a tub of bacon-onion dip with some chips. I looked at the ingredients, and for the life of me, I could not find one mention of onion. I have a problem with that, and I told him so. There was also nothing in the ingredient list that identified the mysterious green flecks, either.
Many chemical ingredients in these convenience foods are used as preservatives and contain hidden sugars. These sugars can blow any dieting effort if you don’t pay attention.
In my household, I never make food just to put in anyone’s belly. I make food to be a dining experience, with no special occasion needed at all. Not a detail is overlooked in making even a simple meal flavorful.
The world is buzzing all around us all of the time. When it comes to eating, I urge you to take a moment to become engaged with what you are about to eat. Appreciate the colors, textures, and finally how the flavors come together. What senses do they excite? What memories come to you?
When you take the time and enjoy food that brings you joy, you may notice that mindless cravings start to subside. My Uncle Jack (the slowest eater in the history of the world) taught me this. That man loves to eat, and you can see his appreciation in every bite. For this, I love cooking for him!
Here at Spicy Chicks Gourmet, we want every meal to strike an emotion. The hardest part is achieving the perfect seasoning combination. As a couple of chicks who love mixing spices, we are here to get you off to a great start. We start you off with one recipe, but encourage our customers to explore beyond – then come back and share with us what remarkable results you had.

]]>It’s a common expectation that at least one in four of your guests will decline or not show, so invite a few extra people to make up for the gaps. You want your home to be lively with plenty of people, and of course, that means plenty of hostess gifts, so that’s a plus.
Even if it’s a potluck, you must account for those non-cooks who will either arrive empty-handed, or you’re too polite to tell them that they cannot cook worth a lick.
First of all, I suggest delegating something store-bought for these people, like sodas, extra ice, or plastic forks and napkins. You know what I’m talking about. You would do the world a favor by arranging for a door prize of Spicy Chicks dessert mixes so they can be a respectable contributor on their next visit. Give them two things to try, like New York Cheesecake as a standard favorite and Pumpkin, because it’s fall….and Pumpkin.
Next, you need a small collection of dips to go with chips, crusty bread, and veggies unless you have the gal who introduced you to Spicy Chicks dips in the first place, and you know she’s good for something fabulous. Just in case, we recommend something for each type of guest:
If you’re lucky, you invited some fabulous cooks to bring the entrees, or that’s how I plan it. I also recommend a Roasted Garlic & Herb olive oil blend and fresh crusty bread to go along with those culinary delights. Because I’m Southern, I cook three times more food than I estimate that I’ll need. It’s the polite thing to do.
If your plans fail for entrees, keep some chicken legs and thighs handy and sacrifice your olive oil blend, dunk some chicken legs and thighs with a dash of balsamic vinegar and throw them on the grill. If everything goes smoothly, chicken dinner is thawed and ready for tomorrow. Your guests can wait as they cook because there are plenty of dips to keep them grazing.
Now that we have some food on your mind let’s move on to your social graces.
In the South, we have two of our favorite types of guests: Early guests come to help you scramble to get everything ready and those who stay late to help you clean up. Be gracious and welcome all of that assistance! For those early arrivals, get them started mixing those dips for you or cutting carrots. Have some plastic bowls for those who stay late, for they will be earning their doggie bags that night.
Keep conversations to two minutes until you have mingled with every one of your party guests. Carrying food always gets people’s attention, so have a few friends with trays to help out, too.
Look for your wallflowers and newcomers and make introductions to those who might share common interests. It is perfectly acceptable to interrupt if you are making introductions. Introducing a new person to a duo who know each other creates a camaraderie faster.
You are allowed to hold your phone in your pocket for 30 minutes to field calls from latecomers or people who are lost. After that, stash it away and do not look at it again. You are in party mode, and your phone is reserved for snapping photos. All other calls are for condolences of those who aren’t coming, and they can go to voice mail.
Accept right now that your party won’t be perfect, but you’re going to roll with it and have a good time. Anything that goes wrong will be a great story at the next party, and white wine takes red wine out of the carpet and sofa (just so you know). What I can promise you, is that every time you bring Spicy Chicks Gourmet to a party, it’s going to be a hit.
]]>As a new cook still learning, it’s best to play it safe as you learn more about how flavors will complement each other. Stick with the old-time favorites that never disappoint!
As you build confidence, we fully expect you to expand and work your way through the rest of this article, so get cracking!
Kids like what kids like, so we have flavors that they cannot resist, even at the end of a veggie. Dips are a great way to entice them to eat more vegetables.
I’ve seen a toddler eat blanched asparagus with ranch dip at the end. Never say never, we always say! Keep an eye on those little stinkers, though, making sure they aren’t sucking the dip right off of the veggies and putting them back on the plate. It’s that good, and they are that clever!
When hosting any party, you can call for pot luck, but even with pot luck, you need some insurance. Play around with these flavors for some fabulous anchors to the party.
Party tip – when you start inviting people for a pot luck, prime their imagination with disclosing what you will be making so they can bring something to complement to the flavors. I’ve also not been shy about assigning dishes if some of my friends are particularly gifted in the kitchen.
You enjoy the finer things in life, and you’re not ashamed to admit it, either. You don’t need any gathering of friends as an excuse to treat yourself. Every meal is a masterpiece.
Pro-tip – you might as well get two or more of the Roasted Garlic & Herb olive oil blend. It’s that good, and you will find a million ways to use it in no time. Keep the Vanilla Bourbon dessert mix hidden away from all of those who have no appreciation of the finer things.
You fear nothing in the kitchen and get excited over new ideas and flavors, instantly scheming over what you will cook with them next? These flavors are ALL YOU!
I know you won’t stop here. In fact, I’d bet money you’ve already started mixing some of the blends above and gotten bold and downright scary to the novice in the kitchen. Make no apologies, in any case.
Keep it spicy!
]]>We know there are some parents out there whose children can gulp down an entire cup of queso. They love cheese that much. Good news for you, we have a healthier, homemade option that your kids will also love. Our Cheesy Bacon Dip is so simple to mix up, all you have to do is refrigerate an hour or two before serving. You can serve this dip with pretzels, chips, or any kind of vegetable.
If your kids don’t mind a kick to their food, they will love our Buffalo Blue Dip. We call this our party favorite because everyone truly loves this dip at any gathering. It’s a buffalo wing sauce with a hint of blue cheese. It can be served with pretzels, chips, or any vegetable. It also must be refrigerated one to two hours before serving.
We will give you a heads up… this dip is as addicting as it sounds! Smoked Cheddar and Bacon - can it get much better than that? Mix up this dip and serve with pretty much anything, and it’s an excellent snack. You can also use this as a dipping sauce for French fries. It’s so tasty your kids will be begging for more.
Everything is better with ranch on it, right? You really don’t know just how tasty ranch dips can be until you make your own. This Texas Ranch Dip beats your generic grocery store ranch any day of the week. This dip can be used on almost anything…chips, vegetables, pizza, you name it!
Guacamole - you either hate it or you love it. For those children who love guacamole, they will love this dip as a snack. It can be as simple as the recipe is on the bag, but you can also add avocados, or lime juice to make it healthier and even more addicting than it already is!
All of these dips require you to refrigerate one to two hours before serving, so you can mix it up before the kids are off to school or even the night before. If your kids are good in the kitchen, the recipe is super easy for them to mix themselves! We suggest you skip the drive-through after school next time and give these recipes a shot. These snacks will make you, your wallet, and your children very happy!
]]>No, not the brand. As you begin to decrease your dairy and meat intake, you will be forced to get creative with your grain and produce intake. Foods you might not normally pick out can easily be worked into your diet. As you try new recipes, you might find that you enjoy foods you were scared to try. For example, those picky eaters that don’t eat vegetables might find that vegetables are in fact delicious if they have a tasty dip to go with it.
Those who follow a vegan diet reduce the intake of saturated fat, animal hormones, and cholesterol while increasing the consumption of fresh fruits and veggies. That has the potential to reduce the risk of cancer, diabetes, obesity, and heart disease. While most of our society turns to fast food, chips, and sweets, vegans eat healthy wholesome snacks to fulfill their hunger. Vegan dips can be paired with whole grain chips, vegetables, or even fruits. In addition to the long-term health benefits, you will also begin to notice physical appearance differences and a change in your energy levels. Once you ditch the processed, greasy saturated snacks, you will have more energy throughout the day.
Perhaps one of the biggest benefits vegans have noticed is the change in their skin. Following a plant-based diet has shown to clear complexions, clearing up acne and creating a glowing complexion.
One of the main concerns for most people when it comes to a vegan-based diet is the food restrictions and sacrificing flavor. While changing your diet requires a bit of adjustment, with time and trying new recipes, you will find that it is not as difficult as you thought. There are plenty of vegan recipes that allow you to indulge. If you have a love for guacamole and chips, you can still enjoy this favorite snack of yours with the right vegan ingredients. If you love creamy dips, there are tasty, flavorful options out there like our Spinach Artichoke Dip. Pair this dip with some carrot chips, and you have a tasty, healthy snack!
Many people have the misconception that vegan food is bland and can’t satisfy your cravings. As taste bud professionals, we are here to tell you that this is false! In fact, with our vegan spice mixes, you can satisfy any craving! From sweet to savory or even spicy, we have the flavor you crave! On the back of our spice mixes you will notice that it suggests mixing with mayo and sour cream. To keep the recipe vegan, you can also substitute in soy yogurt, silken tofu puree, sour cream tofu cream, Avonaise or Vegenaise.
At Spicy Chicks Gourmet, we are dedicated to helping people create simple, healthy, and tasty meals. Try one of our vegan dips today to see how delightful a vegan-based diet can be. To learn more about our dips and what to pair them with, visit our website or feel free to contact us.
]]>If you have a grill, but don’t use it as much as you’d like to, you are really missing out. ]]>It all started in 2006 when our founding mother-daughter duo began to realize people’s lives were getting busier and busier. They noticed the gap between people’s available time and the need and desire to cook up something tasty. It was at this point in time when Spicy Chicks Gourmet was born.
Connie, the mother of the duo, has always been the chef in the family and was the one to take lead when it came to cookouts and holiday cooking. As a result, when the opportunity arose, she jumped at the chance to work with her youngest daughter to create wonderful recipes. As the business took off, she discovered that surrounding herself with fun people at craft shows and influencing others to bring cooking back home brought back a simple joy to her life.
As it’s often been said, the apple does not fall far from the tree. Misty, the daughter of the duo, has had a passion for food and tasty treats for as long as she can recall.
“I can still remember sitting in front of the TV before Sunday school and shouting out, ‘Just 5 more minutes, Mom!’ because I couldn’t get enough of Justin Wilson and Julia Child.” Misty says.
Growing up eating home-cooked meals set the precedence for Misty for a taste and quality that is difficult to find at a drive through. While drive-throughs have unfortunately become the norm in America today, with the birth of Spicy Chicks, Misty has not only been able to pursue a love for cooking but also helps even the busiest of people prepare tasty food for them and their families.
We live such busy lives that sometimes it’s hard to slow down and picking up a deli-prepared party tray seems like the best option. Spicy Chicks Gourmet’s goal is to make life a little easier for everyone from the busy parents to the highly trained chef.

]]>This is for all ranch lovers! Are you one of those people that puts ranch on everything? This dip mix will give a whole new meaning to the idea of that creamy condiment. In fact, if you like ranch you’ll love this one so much that any other ranch just won’t be able to compare. This Texas Ranch dip is great for any chip and vegetable platter. If you grill any sort of chicken or barbeque, this also makes an excellent dipping sauce.
How to Make It: Mix 1 cup of mayonnaise, 1 cup of sour cream and 1 pack of our Texas Ranch spice mix and refrigerate 1-2 hours before serving. Alternatively, you can replace the mayonnaise with 2 cups of yogurt (full fat) or 16 ounces of lite cream cheese for a lighter dip experience.
Looking for a new meal to try this summer? Whether you need a meal to work into your weekly dinner rotation or are planning to entertain guests, we have a simple one for you- that’s healthy too! Stuffed chicken is an easy but delicious meal. Our best-selling Sun-Dried Tomato and Bacon chip and veggie dip is an excellent pair with stuffed chicken.
How to Make It: Stuff chicken breasts with some sun-dried tomato, basil and cheese. Any cheese you prefer is good, but we especially recommend goat cheese. Then, mix 1 cup of mayonnaise, 1 cup of sour cream and 1 pack of our Sun-Dried Tomato and Bacon spice mix and refrigerate 1-2 hours. Cook the chickens and let cool to serving temperature, then pour on the dipping sauce or serve on the side!
It’s no surprise this is our best seller, and once you give it a try you will see why. This powerful, yet smooth garlic flavor is enhanced with the perfect combination of herbs. If you are cooking any pasta or even vegetables, you will want to give this a try. This olive oil blend also makes a great chicken or shrimp scampi which is why we have included the recipe on the package.
How to Make It: Mix our Roasted Garlic and Herb blend with ¼ cup of hot water and set aside for 5 minutes to soften. Then add ¾ cup to 1 cup of regular/pure olive oil (not extra virgin) to the seasonings. For scampi, sautee 1 pound of shrimp, scallops or chicken and cook 1 pound of pasta. Toss your meat, pasta and the prepared blend together and voila, a delicious and easy dish that everyone’s sure to love!
Entertaining guests that have a sweet tooth? Mix up this dip and they will continue to come back for more! This dip is perfect for any cheesecake or cake icing and parfait. It also works great as an ice-cream topping. The Salted Caramel Dessert mix is also great for a bagel spread or Sweet Cheese ball for those guests who prefer their dessert first!

]]>Back in 2017, Spicy Chicks Gourmet reached out to Kennesaw State University (KSU) in hopes of finding a student to redesign our packaging. Little did we know how great the end result would be. Not only did Spicy Chicks Gourmet find one student to redesign our packaging, we got a whole team!
It started when Professor Carole Maugé-Lewis asked Spicy Chicks to become a client for the Fall 2017 Package Design Class. Our first meeting with the students blew us away as they had very valid questions, thoughts, concerns and input. In fact, many of the questions asked were ones we ourselves had not thought about. For example, they touched on ways to indicate which flavors are vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free, making the packaging resealable and adding the word “Gourmet” to Spicy Chicks to indicate what our company is about.
When we came to KSU to find a student to work for us, we were only hoping for them to redesign our packaging. In return, the students not only redesigned our packaging, but created a new logo for Spicy Chicks! We hadn’t thought to update our logo, but once the students presented the options to us, we knew we needed to modernize it to coordinate with the streamlined and natural look we were going for. After 11 years in the business with the same logo, we were very thankful for the team of students bringing this to our attention.
Once the logo was done, the team broke out into groups to give us a final presentation for the package designs, where we were presented with six different options. Once again, we were blown away by the extra effort these students went through to present their ideas.
The work that went into these presentations was unbelievable. Some students made and ordered pouches and filled them with spices to show us how their packaging would look once filled. Another team created business cards that had five different categories for the spices we make: Chip/Veggie Dips, Olive Oil Blends, Dessert Mixes, Pickling Spices and BBQ Rubs. The consideration and creativity that went into these presentations was very impressive.
Picking the winning design was such a hard decision that we took a sample of all six packages to our next craft show to let our customers choose which one they were most attracted to. The same two different, yet similar designs were selected over and over. We decided between the two, and what you see as our package design is the exact package design the KSU students created for us in the Fall 2017 Design Class!
We are very grateful for Professor Carole Maugé-Lewis and her students. Now that you have a little more background on the history of Spicy Chicks Gourmet, browse our website to learn more about what we do and have to offer - including gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options for all food lovers!
